MacBook not waking up when opened...

I close the lid to my Macbook, it goes to sleep, but when I open the lid, it does not come on, at least not right away. Sometimes I have to wait 30 seconds, other times I have to wait up to 2-3 minutes. I have found out that if I flip it open-closed-open-closed-open-closed a few times it will wake up sooner. This is also a problem when shutting down the machine and turning it on again. I now have to press the power button a few times, plug-in and then unplug the power cable a couple times and it will then turn on properly.

I have tried:

  1. Resetting the SMC
  2. Resetting the NVRM
  3. reinstalling my MacOS backup
  4. Reinstalling MacOS (Mojave) completely (not from backup)

None of these have helped, the problem still persists.

Please, Help!?

MacBook, 10.14

The switch is dirty or broken.

Try a can of spray air, to clean out any dust and lint.

  • Warning, use just compressed air - not electronics cleaners, contacts cleaners. etc.

unless you know what you are doing. You do not want the wrong chemical in there.

Also a makeup brush can help clear out any built up lint.

If we knew what model it was someone might be able to advise you where to aim the air spray.

Or, you can find photos online of the insides showing where the switch is.

Other than that see a computer repair person.
