Battery draining with unkown symbol at top bar

Hi there,

I’m facing an issue with the battery, up to 3 days ago battery was working fine, and now I’m in a very cold place and my phone experienced a suden shutdown caused by the cold. All good.

The problem is that once I charged it again, the battery started depleting like crazy, in 10 minutes of whatsapp use the battery goes down around 10-15%.

It doesn’t last more than 2h now even in airplane mode.

I’ve tried hard resets, always end applications in standby, have always been keeping it in warm places and use airplane mode as much as possible and still the battery drains very fast.

Associated to it there’s an icon which I’ve never seen before and can’t find what it means online.

Can you give me a help trying to sort this out or at least find out what the problem is?

Thanks

Is the strange icon perhaps in your wallpaper image?

How cold is it when the battery drains fast? Remember the phone will not work reliably if the temperature is below 0ºC, and the battery capacity will be significantly lower near that temperature. Also, if the phone was exposed to temperatures outside of its non-operating range the battery can be permanently damaged.

Nonoperating temperature: −4° to 113° F (−20° to 45° C)

Note also that putting the phone in Airplane mode can sometimes increase battery drain, because apps that "want" to communicate cannot, but that doesn't stop some of them from trying. When you go to Settings/Battery which apps are using the most energy? If you tap on Battery Health what does it say?
