No low battery warning on MacBook Air 2018. Why?

I have a new MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2018). There is no low battery warning. I have to watch the battery icon regularly to know when the battery level is low, otherwise it just goes dead when it runs flat out of power. My previous MacBook Air popped up a warning when I got down to 20% remaining. How can I get that to work on the new Air?

MacBook Air 13", 10.14

An SMC Reset is justified for that condition: How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC)
