Apple books crashes when editing pdfs

Hi, i am using an iPad from 2017 and the Apple Books app crashes when i am editing (highlighting, etc) a pdf file. It is very frustating due to the fact that when i reopen the app i realize i have lost everything i have edited previosly. Thank you very much.
