No battery alert for apple pencil

Hi! I just got my new apple pencil gen 2 (in the last 2 years, I used gen 1), and it surprised me that it doesn't give a battery alert at all. (I use it on a 2018 ipad pro, with iOS 12.1.4.) It's really irritating that without any warning, it just dies. As I work with it usually 10-12 hours/day, it happens almost every day. I haven't found anything in the settings about it. Is it possible to turn it on? Or should I return it?

Thank you

I use the correct Ipad. Otherwise battery alert wouldn't be the only problem about that. I know how to attach it to the side of the ipad, and I can see the percentage (you can also check it in the notification center). I only looking for the battery alert, which pops up on your screen if the percentage is below 5. The previous Gen apple pencil did that, and apple.com says that this pencil also gives you the warning when the battery level is low. Don't get me wrong, it's not something that i can't live without, it's just simply a bit annoying that the pencil dies without warning, if you dont check the percentage regularly. I thought maybe there is a setting for that.
