I have both the iPad Pro and the MB Pro. I love them both for different reasons. If I'm going in to the office to work, it's MBP. If I'm going to be referencing documents, having clients sign contracts etc, I take the iPad.
The iPad is quite capable of 90% of what I can do with the MBP, but just my luck... I'd have to stop and look up the "work-around" to make things happen.
iPad has wireless and cellular options. MBP needs an external network by either buying a monthly subscription to a carrier, or running into a freebie store such as Starbucks, McDonalds, etc.
MBP is teeny tiny print (requiring this old gal to put readers on.) . iPad Pro is easier.
I like using the pen on the iPad Pro for doodling, taking quick notes, etc. I don't have to wait for the laptop to fire up.
As you can probably tell, I'm not a genius at any of this stuff... merely a "user" that likes convenience. I've had my iPad for years, and another one before this one. But guess what, I was limited with certain tasks with each. Just get one or the other and you'll be quite happy. You'll figure out ways to get around the differences.
Don't be like rodee.. Lol!
Good luck!
Since you didn’t give very much information, it will be difficult to give a very good answer. If all you want to do is basic work, some spreadsheets or word documents, reading email, Internet surfing, then an iPad may meet your needs. For more advanced work, you would want a laptop. The decision is up to you.
A Windows Surface Pro would be a better option than an iPad depending on what you've been using and what your needs are. If you are in a Microsoft environment at work a Surface would suffice over an iPad.
With what you have said, I would say it is not an issue of one or the other. An iPad cannot replace a laptop/desktop computer (and a laptop/desktop computer’s fully preemptive multitasking operating system), nor can a laptop/desktop computer do exactly what an iPad can do. They are companion devices, not competitive replacements for each other. They are different and fill different, albeit complimentary roles.
I don't know. Why don't you tell us.
It’s not.
Get a laptop OR get a Windows Surface tablet, instead, if you want a full featured computer/tablet hybrid.
