I tried to apply the noise reduction effect on a video clip and it's not working - I get text that says "Noise Reduction on video larger than HD is not supported with this system". Even if I change the project settings to be 1080p HD or even lower, I still get this message. I looked up the error and can't find any info about it online - has anyone encountered this?
What are the media specs? 4K?
What are the complete system specs including graphics capabilities?
So I shot the video clips with my Samsung Galaxy S8 in the highest quality available, which was UHD (4K). I then uploaded those videos to my Macbook Air with FCPX, which is where I encountered the error.
Not sure what you mean by graphics capabilities exactly, but my Macbook has Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536 MB and my FCP version is 10.4.4.
Ah, so I guess there's no solution - if I want noise reduction I'd need to get a better computer?
The limited shared graphics on the MacBook is probably not enough for noise reduction for UHD media. It's a slow graphics processor intensive effect. 4K on a MBP with a Radeon Pro card and 4 GB of VRAM has a hard time.
