Importing Photos to iMovie- How Do You Go Back UP the Photo Menu?

I'm importing photos from Photo (and also the old iPhoto). For example, I've got the "My Media" tab clicked in iMovie; on the left hand column under the heading "Libraries" appear "Photo", "iPhoto", "All Events" and finally "iMovie Library". In this example, I've clicked on "iPhoto" (although the same problem happens for "Photo" as well). There's a selection button at the top of the preview window that gives me the selection of "My Albums", "Events", "Albums", "People" and "Places". I've selected "People" and then the individual's name to grab a couple of photos. I then want to return back up the menu to "People" again to select from another saved individual... but can find no way to go back. (I can click on "People" but it stays in the individual's album.) It seems that I'm now perpetually stuck in this one person's album and can't get back out to access someone else. (This seems to happen in other headings as well -- once I select a certain sub-heading, I can't get back out to a main menu to select another group.) Is there something painfully obvious that I'm missing?

Hi,

You should have a tab titled "All People" to the right of the "People" tab. When you click on "All People" it will return you to the full People display.

If you don't have the "All People" tab, try restarting your computer and opening iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and selecting to delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library. Reopen your old library to get back to your projects. Now see if you get the "All People" tab.

I found out how to get back up the hierarchy just before I found your reply (it was an accident, believe me). When I am working on a project, I DON'T have the "All People" tab showing. When I close the project, and then click on the "Media" tab (the three buttons on top of iMovie: "Media", "Projects" and "Theater") then the "All People" option shows, and I can climb back out of the hole I dug myself into. It's a very prolonged and "clunky" way of doing it... but it was better than being stuck in one group of people forever. I will look into your other suggestion of how to get the "All People" tab back, but probably after I'm done with this project! (Cowardice prevails...)

Thanks for your help!

Rich...

I finished what I needed to do with iMovie, and then followed your suggestion for the restart and the "Option/Command" starting of iMovie. It worked as you said it would, and I now have the buttons showing in my projects workspace that allow me to go directly back up the hierarchy, rather than having to do the work-around like I had found earlier.

THANK YOU for that fix!
