Why is there no security or privacy with the new Apple TV?

Anyone within 50feet can access my apple tv and any computers on my home sharing network. Why is there no way to secure the new apple tv? This is because of the bluetooth remote that cannot be turned off. I became aware of this problem when one of my neighbors started turning my apple tv on/off and changing my channels simply by using their remove for their apple tv. Any remote can access any apple tv.


Apple Support said they are aware of it a problem when there is more than one apple tv in a home, yet they did not see it as a problem in an apartment building or someone trying to hack into a network.


Is there any way to make the new apple tv private and secure?

You have to link the specific remote to the specific ATV. It's not as if someone could buy a remote (or use the app) and start using it to control your ATV. They would have to be in your house, in front of your television. Also, there is almost nothing stored on your Apple TV.


If you're concerned about AirPlay, you can require a password for that:

Manage AirPlay settings on your Apple TV - Apple Support


And, you can set up other restrictions:

Use Restrictions on your Apple TV - Apple Support


Perhaps if you were more specific about what it is you're concerned could happen, someone could give you additional information.
