I would like to be able to turn off the message effect when I press and hold the send button on an iMessage. I've tried toggling reduce motion on and looking for an effect setting to turn off in messages but was unsuccessful.

You can turn off 3D touch under Settings>General>Accessibility. Just be aware that if he uses 3D touch for anything else, that would also be disabled going forward. It would act like an iPhone without 3D touch.

I see no option to turn that off.
I bought an iPhone for my father-in-law and he keeps pressing and holding the button even though I told him to just tap it. So I was trying to make things easier for him by turning it off.
Tell him again.
