Everything is so small when I dock my mac book pro! Why?

I just got anew mac book pro and I'm try to get all my settings close to what they were on my older version of mac book pro. When I plug my laptop into my docking station everything (outlook, internet browser, etc.) is so small on my screen. I have high sharp image screens and and they are scaled at 2560X1440. There is other options (2048x1080) but that makes everything blurry and distorted. On my old Mac Book there was an option to just zoom in on the main home page. I don't see that anymore and can't figure out how to make things larger. Please help!

And this was a change from a non-retina screen to a new MBP with retina screen?
