Large extra space bar under the keyboard
How do I get rid of the large white space under my keyboard when I bring it up.

If you are talking about the long white line at the bottom of the iPad's screen, there is a long one at the bottom or the screen and a short one in the upper right hand corner of the iPad’s screen.
These are visual indicators, for users new to iOS 12 and gestures on the iPad, that are used in iOS 12 to indicate where to use swiping gestures to bring up things, like the iOS Dock, App Switcher and the Control Panel.
These are part of iOS 12 system/UI and cannot, currently, be hidden or removed.
