FCP will not quit

I'm experiencing a problem that I've not dealt with before.

FCPX will not quit, even if I try to force quit it. I have manually powered down the computer, then reset the NVRAM.

Unless someone has an alternative, I'm thinking that the program may be corrupted and I should uninstall FCPX then reinstall it.

My reluctance is that am in the middle of a project (non-professional), and I'd rather not start over.

If I uninstall then re-download from the App store, will I be able to reopen and access the project (and prior projects)?

Thanks in advance for suggestions or alternative solutions.

G'day Gary

Can you tell us which version of FCP X is in use?

If you are on the latest then deleting FCP X and reinstalling the same version will not affect your Library.

Start of by resetting the FCP X prefsThis is a harmless operation that will not damage anything and usually fixes quirky behaviour.

Hold Option-Command as you launch FCP X.

It's wise to have backups in any case.

G'day, Alchroma,

First of all, thanks for your help in the past. This isn't the first time you've helped solve a FCPX problem for me.

The version of FCPX I have installed is 10.4.5.

I tried resetting the preferences, but I'm experiencing the same issue of freezing then unable to quit or force-quit.

I'll try uninstalling the FCPX app I have and reinstalling a fresh downloaded version.

Cheers,

Gary

I uninstalled FCPX, including deleting from Application Support, Caches and Preferences folders.

Reinstalled app.

Still getting the same problem.

What I am attempting, is to relink still images and video clips to a project. I see little yellow triangles next to media in the browser list.

Could the library which contains this project and media be the issue? If so, it is possible to delete the library, create a NEW library and still retain the timeline and clips (as edited so far)?

As I'd mentioned originally, this is NOT a paid editing project, so worse comes to worst, I start over from the beginning, and it's delayed to the client (me). Or does this sound like a different problem other than a corrupted library?

Any knowledgable suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Gary
