IP68 certification

Iam really waried that water resistance issue and ip68 certification is real. Wy there is no warranty for this.

How come apple pretending that iphone xs can survive 30 mins in depth 2 meters and my iphone xs did not servive 4-5 seconds with max 30 cm depth. This can only mean one thing to me that the phone is not water resistant at all.

It looks like this water resistant issue is just a mater of propaganda and making more profit.

This is not the way apple used to be before.

Thank u..

iPhone XS, 12

Have you ever bought an iP68 rated wristwatch? Or a similar rated electronics device? None of them provide a moisture damage warranty. That is because (1) there is no way to document whether you exceeded the rating when water damage occurred so they assume you did and (2) water resistance diminishes over time. Watch makers have been selling water resistant time pieces for decades, it is not just propaganda.

The way Apple used to operate is if you moisture damaged your device you were told to just buy a new one at full price. Now you can purchase an out-of-warranty service replacement at roughly half the price of a new one. That seems like an improvement to me.
