Water Spill. Closed Laptop. Is it okay?

I recently knocked a 1/4 glass of water off my night stand where I had my laptop directly under on a shelf the nightstand has (so my laptop was not on the floor just about 4 inches off the floor) and the water splashed everywhere and managed to get on it. My laptop was closed and there was water on the top so I quickly grabbed it and dried it off in seconds (I've literally never moved so fast lol). I tried googling and browsing through the apple threads but I found no information on water spills on top of a closed laptop. This is my first laptop (2018 MacBook Pro 13-inch) so I'm not sure if my laptop is safe since it was closed but I also don't think I gave the water enough time to drip down to any openings but I can't be sure. I opened it and dried it inside as well even though it wasn't wet because I had to open it to shut it down. I just turned it on to check if anything was wrong but everything seems to work fine, I'm scared I'll encounter problems later on and my laptop just dies on me (something I can't afford to happen as I'm a university student) so I'm just really panicking. Will spilling water on top of a closed laptop cause any water damage?
