how much does it cost to replace macbook air keyboard in UK?

one of the metal clips that holds the down key onto the laptop has broken. everything functions fine, this is just a cosmetic problem.

I would like to know how much it would cost to fix this.

I do not want answers such as take to apple store for a quote, I just want to know the price of a replacement keyboard (assuming the only option for this repair is to have a replacement keyboard). there is no point in me going to the apple store if I cannot afford the repair in the first place.

If it is too expensive i will just put up with having no cover on the down key.

I also need to know if the laptop will need to be sent away for this to be done or if it can be done while I wait. I am in the middle of my university degree so really cannot risk sending my laptop away.

I do not know how much it cost to replace in the UK

Since the money is in question and it is cosmetic (still works)

get a $6 keyboard foil cover from Amazon (it is transparent) and it covers the whole keyboard.

It will also help preventing future problems (protecting the keys)

FYI, you are not talking to Apple personnel here. We are all other end users, therefore we cannot quote prices or have no idea if Apple needs to replace the entire thing or only one part. Apple would have to inspect it to determine what needs to be done. So, since you requested not to get any posts suggesting to take it to a store, I won't suggest it. However, that will be the only way to determine what needs to be done and what the cost would be.

Thanks, that is the kind of helpful response i wanted, i've ordered a cover, actually ordered one with black keys so you can't see that one is missing. I won't bother getting it repaired. thanks.
