airpods case losing charge fast

I got AirPods yesterday, and the case has lost 25% of charge in an hour of usage, my mate has had his for 2 years and his are lasting much longer.

“To keep your AirPods charged, put them in the case when you're not using them.” Is what I’m doing, and is the issue I’m having. It’s running out way to quickly to reliably keep the AirPods charged.
