How can I reload Preview

I made the mistake of telling Adobe Reader to be my default for pdfs. (I was having an issue trying to print pdfs from Preview, thought a switch would help.) Now I cannot get Preview to open for anything (e.g., for jpg's), not even if I go to the application folder and double click the Preview app. HELP!

Good luck with the command i >Open With and making all the changes.

Adobe kept hijacking all my pdf. — I eventually had to delete Adobe Reader.

There is a re-occuring bug that seems to hijack Preview, images opening in Graphic Convertor and others, no matter how many times I reset: Alwyas Open With and Open With

I have seen this happen in both High Sierra, and Mojave— I believe the 10.14.3 may have resolved that issue for now.

Thanks to both of you! Leroy, after I followed VikingOSX's directions, I also deleted/uninstalled Reader so the hijack you mention won't happen again. Just FYI, I am running 10.14.3, not sure exactly when the (recent) hijack occurred, whether before or after I move from x.x.2 to x.x.3 One other note of possible interest - before I got your replies, I thought a simple Restart might help me get Preview back, at least temporarily. But System would not Restart or ShutDown. opt-cmd-esc showed that Preview was still "running". ,Even though I was unable to Open or use it. I tried to Quit, could not Quit. So I did a hard ShutDown with the power key. I'll come back to this thread if I have further issues - again, thank you both!
