Can’t boot past the white screen.

I’ve tried a PRAM reset, and SMC reset, I wiped the hard drive and reinstalled OS X. Can somebody tell me what is wrong with my iMac?

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support

If the Mac works okay in Safe Mode, with only a freshly installed OS, then that would be weird, as everything would be “vanilla” without incompatible 3rd party components (login items), or corrupted fonts, or old corrupted caches that could cause havoc.

Isolating issues in OS X - Apple Support

If you re-installed OS X and nothing else (except EtreCheck), then contemplate a hardware issue.

  1. Disconnect all external devices (except original keyboard and mouse).
  2. Use Apple Hardware Test to do a bunch of tests.
  3. Remove any upgrades that may cause an incompatibility.

OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 (14F27)

Don’t forget the Security Updates that should be available after installation, in the App Store or as a separate download.

You could alternatively install a more recent version macOS, like El Capitan, Sierra, or High Sierra, on that Mac. I don’t expect a newer OS to overcome the issue at hand; I’m just surprised you installed old Yosemite in the first place.

How did you reinstall the OS? Did you download the OS installer freshly as well?
