Desktop and Documents not Syncing

Hello,

The drive on my MacBook Pro died. I had Desktop and Documents synced to iCloud. I restored a backup from an external hard drive to another MBP.

When I turned on iCloud > Desktop and Documents, the files in iCloud never sync to the local folders. I can see the files still exist in iCloud.

When I create a new folder in the local Desktop folder, it just says uploading. Like something is not communicating to iCloud. All other network/internet communication seems to be working fine.

How can I get my Desktop and Documents iCloud files to show up locally?

Thank you.

MacBook Pro 13", 10.14

This is what worked:

In the Mac Terminal program (in the Utilities folder), type:

killall bird

cd ~/Library/Application\ Support

rm -rf CloudDocs

then immediately restart the computer. iCloud syncing will begin automatically.

After reboot you can see what's happening in Terminal by typing:

brctl log -w
