I can't run Apple Diagnostics

I can't run Apple Diagnostics, I have a MacBook Air with a USB Ethernet adapter. When the diagnostics start, does not recognize the USB adapter, no internet connection. the problem is I can't connect to wifi, which is why I want to run diagnostics. Is there a way to download the diagnostic software?

My Internet connection is solid and very fast (around 450 Mbps), but waiting for half an hour does not give any result. The spinning globe continues to spin and nothing else happens. I have already filed a bug report ("feedback") with Apple, but I was wondering if anyone else has the same issue and has possibly found a solution or a workaround.

Running Diagnostics but it starts Internet Recovery instead?? I pressed D on startup to run Apple Diagnostics on my 2017 MacBook Air, and now it’s been stuck on “Starting Internet Recovery” for 4 hours with no end in sight. What is going on here? Is this many hours normal? And why didn’t D begin Diagnostic testing?? Help please!
