Frayed apple cables

Please help, is it safe to use frayed cables while charging your iPhone?

Charging cables purchased from apple I bought a USB-C to lightening cord for my iPhone and with in 3 months it developed a slit and now 6monts in the wires are visible in two sections. Can I take my cord to apple to have it replaced? It’s not like it’s the original I got with the phone. This one I bought directly from the apple store.

Do not use damaged cables.

Do nut pull on the cable to remove it from ports, firmly grasp the connector to remove it to avoid damaging the cable.

No! Replace any frayed cables.
