Importing old DVDvideo into imovie

Hi,

I have several old DVD with family movies. Upon opening the DVD, they are listed as Video_TS files and cannot be imported directly into imovie. Most of the information on this topic appears quite dated.

It look like a third party convertor is required?

The nine files in the folder are listed as:

VIDEO_TS.BUP

VIDEO_TS.IFO

VIDEO_TS.VOB

VTS_01_0.BUP

VTS_01_0.IFO

VTS_01_1.VOB

VTS_01_2.VOB

VTS_01_3.VOB

VTS_01_4.VOB

Any up to date advice would be appreciated.

I use Handbrake to rip DVDs. I don't know if it is the best, but it works for me.

Hi Barney-15E,

I wish I had waited for your reply before purchasing software called Aimersoft Video Converter - which may well suit some. It doesn't seem to pick up the source files in a complete manner. Partial conversions result.

Having downloaded Handbrake I have accomplished exactly my download intention with no hassle at all.
