Skin Burn/Irritation from Apple Watch s.1⌚️

Skin Burn/Irritation from Apple Watch ⌚️ series 1. This is my second watch and I’ve been using it for the last 3 years with no problem. Now this has occurred underneath where the sensor sits in my wrist. It was very sore/burnt? I Am dubious to wear it again incase it’s a fault with the watch. Who do I contact?

iPhone 8, iOS 12

This could be an allergic reaction to materials used in the Apple Watch case or watch band, unless the watch is physically very hot, which could indicate a failing battery or an app on the Apple Watch consuming way too much power overheating the Apple Watch.

Apple Support if it is physical heat. Your Doctor for allergic testing.

In either case you should stop wearing the Apple Watch until you get this resolved.

I’m sure you would have noticed if the watch had overheated, and as you mention it would be uncommon but not impossible to develop a sudden allergy to something in the watch. Another option is you got some irritant trapped behind the watch and didn’t notice until too late - some of the liquid soaps and other household products are fine for short periods but can be irritant if not rinsed away sooner rather than later.

I suggest not wearing the watch for a few days (or use the other arm) to let the irritation clear, then try the watch again but keep a check on what is happening on your arm. If the problem reappears it is time to consult your doctor and consider metal allergy.

I don’t think it can be an allergic reaction as I have been wearing this watch daily for the last 9 months, and my previous one before this. I think it’s more likely to be a fault. I just wondered if anyone else experienced something similar. I have co taxted Apple support and they’ve been really helpful, I have sent photos and explained what has happened. So hopefully we will get to the bottom of it.
