I received an email stating my Apple ID has been disabled and requesting me to verify info. It’s asking for my social security number as well as all my Apple account information. I’m not comfortable putting this info in with all the scams lately. Is this a legitimate email I got? Why does it need my social if so?

It's fake. Forward it to reportphishing@apple.com as an attachment and then delete it.
If an Apple ID is actually disabled, its owner will be told when they try logging into it instead of through email.
