forgot my passcode how factory reset my iphone a1349

a close friend of mine recently passed away and his mom gave me his iphone A1349 cause she doesnt know anything about it and ill i know is it was used only for music and theres a passcode on it . how can i factory reset it so i can place it under my apple account ive already tried holding the home and power button where it took me to the connect to itunes but nothing else is happening when plugged into computer to connect
