Will my macbook update pause if it looses internet connection mid-update?

I want to update my macbook pro from sierra to mojave, but am currently in a country where quick internet is uncommon. My router specifically is known to every so often disconnect devices (about every 30 minutes or so). In the past when I tired to update my iphone 5s, the internet was so slow that the update always took much longer than the time it took my internet to kick the device off, and as a result my phone was stuck mid-update. It then told me I needed to connect to itunes and either restore or updtate the phone, neither of which would work with my internet connection. I'm wondering if I will be in a similar situation if I try to update my macbook, or if the mackbook safely pauses it's update until it receives a connection again. And to go along with that, will the computer automatically reconnect to the router, or will it be stuck since I cannot manually mess with the wifi during an update. Thank you.

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.12

When you updated your phone, did you initiate the update from Settings/General Software update? That is an over the Internet update. For the OS, it downloads the entire installer package, and then does the update after the download is complete. The only part the Internet connection can disrupt is the initial download. That download should resume when the Internet connection is reestablished.

Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.

 Application Compatibility

Also check to make sure there is a compatible driver for your printer.

Do a backup before installing, preferable 2 backups on 2 different drives.

Do you actually need Mojave for anything? If you are not in your current location permanently, there's really no reason to attempt to install a major upgrade, especially one that might be problematic. You shouldn't do it at all, anywhere, unless you have a complete, bootable backup of your current system on an external drive that you can use to restore your current system in case of disaster.
