My apple watch is not receiving any texts or other notifications. They just go straight to my iPhone. It is also not getting other information like weather info. Both the watch and the phone show that they are connected. I have restarted both and nothing changes. I have had the phone for several years and the watch for two years and have never had any problems. This just started a couple days ago.

I would try force restarting the watch. Hold the digital crown and the power button together until you see the Apple logo and release.
You may have to un-pair and re-pair the two devices. Do that from the Watch app on the iPhone.

If you are not getting Notifications on the Apple Watch, but are getting them on the iPhone, it sounds like Wrist Detection may be turned off. See this about how Notifications works with the iPhone and Apple Watch. Notifications on your Apple Watch - Apple Support
I went into the "Passcode" menu on the watch settings app and it said that Wrist Detection is on. I tried to go into the same menu on the watch app on my iPhone and it said "Could not connect to Apple Watch. Make sure your Apple Watch is nearby powered on, and not in airplane mode." My watch is literally 4 inches away, definitely on, and not in airplane mode.
If you swipe upwards on the Watch screen to look at the Control Center, does it show that the Watch and Phone are connected? You may wish to start by powering both devices off, then power them back on again, starting the phone first. See if they pair.
I turned them both off and left them off for about a minute. I turned the phone on first. When it was fully on, I turned the watch on. When I swipe up on the watch screen, the green phone symbol is in the top left corner, indicating it is connected as it did before. I am still getting the same error message in the watch app on my phone.
Resetting didn't work, so I un-paired and re-paired. That worked. Thank you so much.
