Keyboard Light does not work

My keyboard light (F6) is not working, but my F5 key does work. When I click F6 nothing comes up on my screen and when I press F5 it shows me my keyboard light is all the way down. I've tried covering the sensor and nothing is working.

Whenever I look away from the screen it turns off, and instantly turns on when I look back at it. If i cover my camera then this does not happen, the light just stays on like usual. Is something going on? Or am I being paranoid?

Why isn't my keyboard lighting not working? hi, when I press on the f6 button on my keyboard it shows me that the lighting is going up but it doesn't show any affect on the keyboard (the keyboard isn't lighting). I tried searching up how to solve it but nothing works. what do I do?

Try resetting the SMC http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
