Please check with the Microsoft support folks, and with the Dayforce folks, and with whoever locally is requiring Dayforce.
It appears that Dayforce has built their product and their web site atop a platform that Microsoft is retiring.
Per Microsoft, “As of 12/31/2016 Silverlight is not supported on all versions of MacOS.”
Looks like you’ll need Microsoft Internet Explorer. IE was replaced by Edge, and Edge does not support Silverlight.
Maybe an old Firefox will work?
You’ll probably end up booting Microsoft Windows as a guest in a hypervisor, or maybe an old version of Firefox might work with Silverlight here, or using or screen-sharing into a Windows system.
All workarounds though, given the status of Silverlight.

Safari 12 dropped support for most plugins...
Firefox 52 dropped old plug-in support, too.
As did Chrome 45.
And Opera and Microsoft Edge never had Silverlight.
The now-retiring Microsoft Internet Explorer 11 or an earlier and now-retired IE on Windows, or maybe an older and unsupported browser, is pretty much it, if Silverlight is a requirement.
All per: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Silverlight
Safari 12 dropped support for most plugins. Silverlight isn't supported any longer.
Some other browsers you can try.
Firefox 10.9 or higher
Opera Browser 10.9 or higher
SeaMonkey 10.9 or higher8
Waterfox 10.8 or higher
I receive, "Silverlight was not installed" message after downloading Silverlight 5. I have macOS version 10.13.6. It also says you are running on a browser that may not fully be compatible with Microsoft Silverlight. After installation, I go to Safari, preferences, security. I am looking for a box next to allow plugins but either is not there. I have fraudulent site and web content both checked under security. My plan is to use Silverlight 5 with Safari as I plan to enable Silverlight for the Dayforce website.
Thank you for the update. I had read the newest Firefox and Chrome versions had dropped support, but wasn't aware any others had or never had the capability.
