can't empty the Trash.

Hi. I have several files in my Trash that I cannot delete. I have tried to restart the Mac and delete them from the Trash. Still not working. Help me please.

Trying to delete useless files from MACintosh HD Hi, I deleted some files today from my HD that I thought were useless. However, I am not sure because I am not that savvy in computer lingo. I used to be able to delete individual files from my trash. When I tried to do so today I was not able to. Does anyone know why? There are files that I am not sure I want to empty from the trash until I see if they compromise my computer. Thus deleting individual files from the trash was a good option. Thank you!

Moving File(s) to Trash permanently deletes, do not go to Trash. I'm on a 2016 MacBook Pro running Big Sur. Whenever I delete a file by Right Clicking - send to Trash, I get the same message that I am permanently deleting the item (see screenshot attached). The same happens if I drag a file to the trash. I have no external disks attached and no servers mounted. I have run First Aid on my local drive and I am still getting the message. Does anyone know how I can "fix" this so that it behaves as expected, and files get sent to the Trash Can? I imagine that it a permissions issue and I have tried running a couple of different commands in Terminal that I found here: https://www.macworld.com/article/227783/how-to-stop-os-x-from-deleting-trashed-files-immediately.html When I try to run these commands I get a message that I cannot perform this task on this disk. Thank you in advance for your help.

How to force delete all files in the trash I have some folders in the trash can and when I try to empty the trash it throws an error saying Can't delete “dest” because its pathname is too long. How can I force empty the trash can in macos big sur ?

What files? Some are protected from deletion.
