Navigation goes mute when charging phone in USB port

My audible navigation goes mute when I have to plug my phone into USB port to charge while driving.

Subaru 2015 Forester/Iphone 8 plus How do I overcome this? I have an upcoming long distance trip and I will need both, directions and the ability to recharge my phone. I've been getting by with an old Garmin but I really prefer to use Maps or Waze to have traffic updates. Thanks This is so frustrating.

It does the same if you get a bluetooth pairing. It diverts the audio.

You could probably set the “source” in the car radio to USB and turn up the volume. Then your radio cannot play.

Personslly I turn off BT and charge from the cig lighter socket with sn adapter. More power too.
