BootCamp Crashed - Can’t find my hard drive

I’ve been running bootcamp off of my MacBook Air 13” for about 3 months so far with no problems. Tonight, I had shut my computer while booted in Windows 10 and when I opened it, rather than get the login screen, I got a message saying that an error had occurred and that it was going to restart my computer.

After it had restarted, the only startup disk showing up was my external hard drive that I use to store games. It didn’t have the option for Windows or Mac and when I remove the external drive it gives me a flashing folder with a question mark.

I tried using Disk Utility but the hard drive would not show up there either to repair. I tried resetting the VRAM and safe mode too but nothing seemed to work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated it. I really hope that the hard drive isn’t broken

Your MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2014) - Technical Specifications has an SSD. These are

Storage1

128GB
128GB PCIe-based flash storage
256GB
256GB PCIe-based flash storage
Configurable to 512GB flash storage.

It is very unlikely that you have storage issues.

Update: It loaded again after waiting a while. I’m successfully booted on Mac OS. I used disk utility to run first aid on my hard drive and no errors came up. I won’t close my computer so it doesn’t freeze again. Not sure what to do next.

Edit: For some reason, I left it overnight and booted it this morning and it loaded Mac OS immediately. I’m going to hope that it won’t do that again.

It was working fine for like an hour and then when I closed it and opened it, there was no prompt for me to enter my password so I restarted it and now I’m back to the blinking folder.

Can you boot into Internet Recovery using Command+Opt+R at boot?

I can load it into recovery mode but unfortunately I’m at school so I can’t connect to the school WiFi. I’d have to go to a place where I can connect to the WiFi free.

Early 2014 MacBook Air 13”

Mac OS Mojave 10.14.1

Windows 10

I play a lot of games on Windows. Not extremely graphics heavy but I’m not sure if that could have anything to do with it

You should update to Mojave.3. I also recommend Windows backups and System Restore points.

Updating Mojave let me restart with Windows. Hopefully I don’t run into any other problems. If I do then I’m assuming there’s a problem with the hard drive and might stop by the Genius Bar
