I just recently found out that you were able to connect your facebook account with iChat, and have been attempting to set it up on my computer that runs Tiger. Every time I try to login through jabber, it simply says "Could not connect to Jabber". However, I am able to login on other computers with Leopard.
I've been following the basic steps and am sure that the port, username, and server are correct, and I've unchecked the SSL box.
I'm fairly sure that my issue is that I'm trying to login with Tiger. So, my question is, is there anything I can do differently to connect to facebook while still using Tiger?
My biggest problem is that Facebook chat logs disconnects when sleeping, and it prompts me for my PW when I wake the computer back up, even though I have the password stored in the keychain and set to automatically log in on launch. I can't find a fix for this at all.
I followed the link provided by Cragrat and within minutes I was up and running.
I am running SL.6.6 and iChat 503.
I didn't have to create a Jabber account. +But I did have to create a username in Facebook.+ That feature was left blank in my Facebook account when I initially set it up.
Using my newly created
username and the password for my Facebook account, I entered that information as the log-in for Jabber. After entering the server information provided by Facebook, bingo! iChat created an account for Facebook and now my friends and family show up in my Jabber List.
