After Updating iPad

My IPad autoupdated and I've been stuck trying to activate it. It keeps showing this error message, 'your iPad could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPad to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes'.

Been trying and it feels like forever already...

I tried using iTunes but sync option is blurred out. I need help with this ASAP.
