Up until this morning I was accessing my business email via apple mail perfectly. Then it stopped. I've been talking with my business IT folk. It works fine with them.

Nothing for the IMAP path prefix.
Open Keychain Access in Utilities, then either check the Password under that item, change it, or delete it and start over.
Enter the part after the @sign in the search bar.
You may have duplicate or more entries in Keychain Access.
If using a browser to login via WebMail works it's not Name or Password, but likely old passwords interfering.

Then I would delete the account in Mail then re add the account. Let us know if that works.

So what happens when you try to access your email using the webmail interface?
You have to get those settings from your email provider. They should have instructions for setting up an email client including ports, security, etc.
Who is the e<ail provider? I just read AOL was down for some.

I've done that as well.
I've changed the password on Westhost. Then deleted the account on apple mail. Then input it as a new account. I have another question. When I click on ADVANCED I input chimail.westhost.com in the Host slot. What do I input in PATH PREFAX. And do I uncheck AUTOMATICLY MANAGE CONNECTION SETTINGS? How about use TLS?SSL? By the way, thanks for your patience.
