No “get” button next to the app I’d like to download

App Store is not giving me the option to “get” a free app that I’d like to download.

I’ve had it in the past, on previous phones, using a different apple id, and when I searched for it on my new phone I was prompted for the password linked to my old Apple ID; when I then chose “cancel”, it directed me to the App Store...and no option there to download it.

iPhone XR, iOS 12

As you know, apps are permanently tied to the Apple ID that was used to download/install them.

That being said, if the app you'd like to get again requires your old Apple ID AND that app is NOT on your iphone, then you need to search for its exact name in AppStore and then download it (if it is still on your iphone you need to delete it, before trying to download it using the new ID).

If it doesn't appear on AppStore, there could be two main reasons:

The app's developer team didn't upgrade that app to be used for iOS 11 or later (only apps written for 64bit structures are admitted);

or

That app doesn't meet Apple requirements any longer, and Apple decided to ignore that app.

Just curious, what app are you talking about?
