Hi,
I´m attempting to access media files on my Amazon Fire Stick device with VLC installed.
I´ve installed latest version of OSX (Mojave 10.14.3) and I´ve configured system preferences to allow file sharing using SMB protocol.
VLC does detect my iMac, but is asking for "login" and "password". My Apple username and ID do not seem to work. What exactly do I need to enter? Thanks!!!!

Have you checked the Sharing preferences in System Preferences? Is your account authorized (in the "Allow access for" list) for File Sharing? If you click on Options, is the checkbox next to SMB checked?
If the answer is yes to both questions, try using your computer account name and password. If that still doesn't work, you may be forced to authorize your account for Windows File Sharing, which stores your password in a less secure manner.

I believe I´ve checked the appropriate Sharing preferences (I´m try to access the Movies folder). VLC still requests "login" and "password".
By "computer account name", do you mean the Apple ID?
Should "password" be the Apple ID password, the password for the iMac, or another?
