1st generation pencil with 12.9 inch (not newest) iPad Pro. iPad charges pencil. Went through two of those small two female ended adapters and neither charge the pencil. Tried with a 5w cube and 12w. Tried different cords and different AC adapters...nada. All of the cords and cubes work with other devices (including the iPad Pro itself). What gives?

You don't need a special charger. It should charge with any iPhone or iPad charger. Are you sure the F-F Lightning adapter is the right way round. The pencil should plug into the end with the small circle icon.

I'm sure there is specific circuitry built into the iPad to charge the pencil that these chargers sold on Amazon (there are others as well) must have.
