Apple ID/ iCloud Security....Please advise

I have had my previous apple id for 12 years. My ex has someone hacked into my devices and my apple id. at this point I am replacing my phone with a new phone new carrier, selling my ipad, watch, macbookpro and will replace them when I can afford to do so. What I am asking is how do I best protect myself against an abusive, stalker who has previously compromised my devices. I finally left the situation. I just want to feel as safe and secure and educated as possible. Thank you.

You might want to consider changing your password and making sure it is a strong one. You can also add 2 Factor Authentication to your account for more security. If the attempts continue, you might want to consider a name change.
