iphoto issues

I have an IMAC from late 2013 OS X Yosemite 10.10.5. I havent been able to update iphoto this past year and the message I got made no sense to me. Just read that iphoto no longer exists. If I purchase the apple Photos App, can my current photos/albums, etc be transferred automatically?

Thanks,

DF

Photos was introduced with Yosemite 10.10.3 so should be available to you already, no need to purchase. Have a look Finder > Applications.
