Using Apple Smart Keyboard/folio (iPad Pro 12.9 3rd gen) on Youtube App (Skip, Pause, Play, etc)

Really simple question, but how does this work with the shortcuts with the keyboard or does the youtube app no currently support keyboard shortcuts for the apple keyboard for ipad pro?

Cheers,

The iOS YouTube app doesn't support keyboard shortcuts. You'll need to use a web browser and request the desktop site.

Most, although not all, of these keyboard shortcuts work and support varies by web browser with Safari being the most functional:

Gotcha. Smh, this is kind of why I liked Apple’s strict guidelines for it’s app ecosystem. If it’s a video player app, all should support keyboard shortcuts, skip forward, back, pause/play at the very least. Just a much better app experience imho.

But thanks for the tip. I tried using safari last night, but could not find out how to switch the site to dark mode once in the browser. Did Google block this for Google reasons and will it be just better to use Google Chrome when using YouTube on the desktop version, until or if they add support for the keyboard shortcuts within the app.

I agree about consistent UX.

To enable YouTube's dark mode in iOS Safari: on your iPad go to the mobile site (https://m.youtube.com), tap Safari's share button, and tap Request Desktop Site. On YouTube's splash page that opens tap the more button (three vertical dots), tap Dark Theme: Off, and then slide the toggle button on.
