sonos music keeps stopping as computer goes to sleep

With the update of the Mac OS while the Sonos System is playing my Music Library the Sonos stops and the queue is reset to the top song. It has something to do with the system going to sleep even though the Sonos is playing music from the library. This isn't happening with Pandora or Spotify just files from my computer music files. What is the fix. I'm not the only on with this problem. So many have ask for a fix on Sonos but nobody has figured it out except for changing your energy preferences to Never Sleep which is not good for the computer. Help please.

If you have setup Sonos to play the music that is on your computer's hard drive then your computer has to be awake. If the computer sleeps then Sonos can't see the music. Pandora and Spotify don't work like that because they are streaming music from their servers. You have 2 options if you want to play your music.

  1. If your WiFi router allows you to connect a hard drive to it, you can put your music on that drive and then configure Sonos to play from that location. See this article at the Sonos Web site for more information. Note - I did this for a couple years and while it worked there were some trade-offs which is why I eventually went to option 2
  2. subscribe to Apple Music. Your music will be put in the cloud and Sonos won't need to look at your computer any longer.
