Apple Music Freezes Song After Waking Mac From Sleep

Hello,

I have a MacBook with the m1 chip running mac OS 11.5.2. Whenever I'm playing music on the Apple Music app and close the computer's lid for sleep then wake the computer from sleep I can't play the song. The song time elapsed wont move forward and the pause/ play button is clickable but does not work to resolve the issue. The fix is skip to the next song and that seems to resolve the issue. This isn't a big issue, it's just annoying. If anybody has a fix to make the song play right away for this please let me know.

Thank you for your time. 😁

Hi, Alex,

Thanks for stopping by the Apple Support Communities. If we understand, when you close the lid of your MacBook while playing music, you cannot resume the same track after waking the computer next. We're happy to help!

First, try pausing the music playback prior to closing the lid. If the issue continues after that, quit the Music app: Quit apps on Mac - Apple Support and do a full restart on your Mac: Log out, sleep, wake, restart, or shut down your Mac - Apple Support. Then, reopen the Music app while holding shift and see if the issue persists.

If you're still having to skip the track to get Apple Music to play, see if it persists in safe mode: Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support. If it does, try a new user as well: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac - Apple Support.

Don't hesitate to respond back if you still need help. If you do, please let us know if this occurs only with streaming content, only with content downloaded for offline listening, or both.

Cheers!
