keychain

I recently purchased a macbook pro and i had downloaded Microsoft word, powerpoint, etc. Whenever i open the applications a tab that asks for my keychain password pops up. I know that your keychain password should be the same as your macbook login when you first set it up however when i type in the CORRECT password it does not go through.
