Apple Music on iPod Shuffle

Does anyone know if it is possible to get Apple Music onto my iPod shuffle? I have downloaded the music and added it to a playlist. When I plug in the iPod to sync, the playlist shows in my available list, so I check the box but the music does not go onto the device. Any suggestions?
