Unlocked iPhone with Apple ID still attached

So, I purchased this iPhone 6s Plus from eBay and the iphone is completely accessible. There is no passcode, as I can go to the homescreen but there is still an Apple ID attached to the device. I have contacted the owner of the phone and they are willing to remove the apple ID, however they wish not to give me the password. Is there any way for them to lift the Apple ID remotely from a different device?
