The USB port on apple TV is for service only (e.g. to reinstall the OS).
Just use the ethernet port for network connectivity (or Wi-Fi). 100BASE-T is more than fast enough for Apple TV, or any TV-like reception, and compatible with any gigabit switch.
1080p/60fps content. 100BASE-T is not able to provide me enough speed.
That’s unexpected, as GoPro Hero 6 and 7 specs say 1080p/60 fps should run about 47 Mbps (w/Protune). Even 4K should be under 78 Mbps.
The USB C port is only for servicing purposes (connecting to iTunes for restore)
Actually I Need gigabit port to stream 1080p/60fps content (video filmed with my GoPro) stored in my NAS (which has a gigabit port).
100BASE-T is not able to provide me enough speed. Sad. :(
The 4K model is the only one that has a gigabit ethernet port.
I know that... but I was hoping there was a way to use a usbc gigabit adapter as you can do with macbook pro and even iPad Pro!
No, as stated that port can not be used for connecting adapters. That would be your only option if you want a gigabit port.
I understood. Thank you for your help.
Ok theoretically you are right but in practice the streaming is not fluid. Maybe it needs more speed to buffer the content or maybe my Apple TV is not going to full 100Mbps.
