Can receive iMessages on MacBook pro but cannot send; also files in cloud won't download to view

I recently noticed I cannot send messages through iMessage on my MacBook pro. Messages come in through my phone, watch, and mac, but I cannot respond on my mac. Also, i cannot open documents that are saved on the cloud on my mac, they say they are loading but do not ever load. My cloud tells me to sign in with my password and then it says "an unknown error has occurred". I am afraid to log out because I don't want to lose my data.

Hi alucch,

Thank you for contacting Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it seems like there is trouble sending messages from the MacBook Pro. It may be that you need to enable text message forwarding. Take a look at the "Send text messages to anyone from your Mac" section. If you are not able to load and are repeatedly asked to sign in with your Apple ID, there seems to be a communication issue. See if you are able to connect using a different Wi-Fi connection.

Please don't hesitate to let us know if the steps resolved your issue or if you need additional assistance.

Cheers.

Hi,

I believe this has to do with my iCloud. I cannot open any of my computer documents that are on the cloud. I have not changed any of the settings in my cloud. It appears I am logged in because it has my cloud ID shown but asks for my password. When I submit my password it says "unknown error has occurred". I tried to log out of my cloud but it has to back up onto my computer so it can be recovered when I log back in. This process is long and it won't complete.
