Hello leslie3001,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities! I understand that your iPhone is displaying an incorrect battery percentage. While the battery indicator is an approximate of your battery percentage, there's a few possible causes for this to happen that I would be happy to look in to with you.

If the battery percentage doesn't change from 1% when it's charging, restart your iPhone, then check if there's any change:

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

The following support article provides some additional troubleshooting steps to take if the iPhone isn't charging as expected:

If your iPhone powers off unexpectedly while showing battery percentage remaining, we'll want to take a look at the health of your battery next. As your battery chemically ages, it can cause changes in the performance of your iPhone. Using the iPhone in colder temperatures, in a low battery state of charge, or when it is near depletion can cause the device to shut down. You can read more about iPhone performance in relation to your battery here:

iPhone Battery and Performance - Apple Support

The "Battery Health" section covers specific steps you can take to view the health of your battery. If you see an alert indicating that your battery health is degraded, battery replacement may be a good option to consider to get your iPhone working as expected again.

If none of the scenarios described above applies to your issue, could you tell us more about what's happening? Does the battery percentage stay at 1% while charging? If so, does this happen if you use a different charging cable or wall outlet?

Cheers!
